For the first time, Make a Miracle had an all men's team travel to Peru. To be honest this gave me a lot of stress. I won't be there...who would get them breakfast in the morning? Who would tell them what Miracle t-shirt to wear? Who would hold the keys to Casa Pat? Who would make sure the lights were turned off when they left? I am not really a control freak but these are just some of the things I do on our Team trips. They couldn't possibly do it without me, right? As

      Operation Christmas Miracle

Operation Christmas Miracle was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. We brought Christmas to over 600 in San Juan de Lurigancho. This has created lasting memories not only for the kids, but for Team Miracle who worked so hard to make this a special Christmas. Have a blessed Christmas! #General

      Beneath the Surface

The first time I came to San Juan De Lurigancho was 2009 and I immediately fell in love with everything about it. The people, the sounds, the smell (most people would disagree on that one) all took a hold of my heart and, ever since then, it’s been hard to keep me away. The first few times I came down here I was so focused on helping the people of Peru with “typical missionary tasks”. What buildings need to be painted? Who needs to be prayed for? What supplies can I pass out?

When things don't go as planned

This trip to Peru was a little different. We had 13 people, and spent the first 4 days in Miraflores, Cusco, Ollantantambo and Machu Picchu checking some things off our bucket lists. After a couple days we were all anxious to get to San Juan de Lurigancho to get started with our mission work. Our first day we were scheduled to build a house with the Reimagine team (about 30 people), which everyone was really excited about. The night before, I got word that there was a mix

      Fun-raising

Make a Miracle recently hosted 2 great fun-raisers that brought in almost $8,000 for Peru! On April 29th we went to Vino 100 in Alpharetta for a wine tasting. (Pictures above.) Thank you everyone who came out to wine for a cause! We also hosted a Texas Hold 'em poker tournament on May 6 at Stars and Strikes in Cumming. We gave out $1650 in cash prizes, and had 2 of the players buy houses for families in Peru! Thank you Danny and Geoff and everyone else who came out for h

      Team Miracle in Peru

Make a Miracle traveled to San Juan de Lurigancho in February for a week filled with activities. One of the highlights was teaming up with Reimagine to build a home for a family. Our team of 35-40 people (almost all of our scholarship students pitched in) hauled pieces of an entire home up approximately 170 stairs in 85 degree heat! We were blessed to be helped by some men who saw us and wanted to join in the action. We found out they were recovering drug addicts and Dean

Meet Liz. Miracle Girl. Culinary Artist.

I had the pleasure of meeting Liz in 2012 at the Pat's Place shelter for women and children. She was a sweet teenager that had an undeniable, special something about her...a sparkle in her eyes. The time came for Liz to graduate high school, and she had no way to continue her education. My husband Jack and I were staying at Pat's Place at the time (2014) and could not believe someone with so much potential had no options to make a better life for herself. We questioned La

      Flood Relief for Stricken Peru

You may have seen on the news and social media that their has been a terrible natural disaster in Peru. They have been hit with some of the worst weather and flooding in over 100 years. The cost of food has gone up five times its normal cost in just a week. Clean water is scarce and rationed where it can be found. We are reaching out to everyone for help in raising money for immediate relief. 100% of what is being raised is going directly towards the flood relief. Donation li

      Casino Night Fundraiser

Make a Miracle's first major fundraiser was a huge success! Approximately 100 people gambled for a cause at the beautiful Blue Room at Stars and Strikes's Sandy Springs location. We had amazing prizes donated by many businesses that people won using their gambling winnings or by buying raffle tickets. The food and hand crafted cocktails were outstanding, thanks to Kip & Nick from Stars and Strikes and Shelby Garrett, one of our volunteers. This night was just perfect thank

In Peru they call me Madre Carolyn...Mama Gringa...Mama C. I am "mother to many." This trip I travelled with 15 youths from the states and it's a very different type mission. I am so happy with the things I see in the four I brought with me (2 of my daughters & 2 teen boys near and dear to my heart) as well as the entire team. They impressed me every day and I am still bursting with pride. I have to brag on some of my proudest moments from this trip: Day 1: Team leader say
